June 23, 2001 - Quartet Invitational 2001, Harmony ... Harmony ... and more Harmony!Saturday might have been an ordinary evening except for the goings on at the Tiger Columns Ballroom that night. Over 250 folks gathered for the Second Annual Quartet Invitational, jointly sponsored by the Boonslick Chordbusters and the Heart Of Missouri Sweet Adeline’s. Quartets from around the region were invited to attend and participate in what turned out to be quite an evening! Harmony was in abundance as quartet after quartet took to the stage and gave the audience a wonderful show. The roster included appearances from: Special Blend The Overtones Heart of Missouri Chorus Dogs Without Leashes The Boonslick Chordbusters Par Four Sweet Addled Minds Top Flight Lucky Star Everyone found something they liked as John Downs, our Emcee for the evening, led us through the line up. There was group singing and even some tags were learned! There were traditional quartets and some with comedic numbers, such as the Sweet Addled Minds, who stole the show with their comedic rendition of a geriatric quartet in search of their lost past ... finding instead only wet Depends ... You had to see it! The audience held many barbershoppers but there were a lot of guests as well - folks who just simply love to hear good quality barbershop harmony. They were rewarded with a positive family-orientated evening of fun and entertainment! All agreed that we will definitely convene again next year for another evening of fun, fellowship, and Harmony!
